Geranium / Pelargonium Graveolens
Native to South Africa, the sweet scented geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) corresponds to a shrub with an intense scent reminiscent of a rose and citrus blend. Cultivated since centuries for its characteristic fragrance, this plant with small pink flowers gathered in bouquet is also appreciated for its ornamental quality. Its name derives from the Greek pelargos, meaning stork, in allusion to the shape of its fruits similar to the beak of this bird. Therapeutically, the geranium is also known for its multiple properties, particularly bactericidal and regenerating.
With a fresh, sweet and floral scent, the Geranium hydrosol also holds many virtues. This natural tonic is mainly known for its refreshing, purifying, balancing, soothing and regenerating properties. Its aromas can be used in cooking, pleasantly enhancing desserts, sorbets, drinks or salads made with red or citrus fruits in particular. Cosmetic-wise, it contributes to purifying, balancing and toning the skin.
